- to sponsor the exposure of the Arab press to developments in the field of journalism globally
- to provide intensive training of the highest standards to working journalists
- to initiate, promote and support sustainable training systems across the region in tandem with media organisations
- to sponsor dialogue between Arab journalists on matters of mutual concern, including ethics and standards, press freedom and professional development, and between Arab and non-Arab journalists
- to support research into key issues impacting on the development Arab journalism
